Skin condition
Rosacea
A plain-English guide from Dr. Auston Eckert — what's actually going on, what tends to help, and what to skip.
What's actually going on
Rosacea is a common, chronic condition where the blood vessels in your face become more reactive — leading to flushing, lasting redness, and sometimes small bumps. It isn't caused by poor hygiene, and it tends to flare with specific, personal triggers.
What tends to help
- Gentle, fragrance-free cleansing
- Supporting your skin's surface and keeping it hydrated
- Daily sun protection
- Finding and avoiding your triggers — heat, alcohol, spicy food, stress
What I'd skip
- Harsh scrubs and over-exfoliation
- High-strength actives without guidance
- Fragranced products that can provoke flares
Not sure if it's rosacea — or what to do about it?
